Basically, Dan Bae Gong is practiced to make strong body and mind. It is an essential base of Kichunmoon practice which is normally practiced before and after exercises.
Kichunmoon members generally do 7 times of this before starting any exercise and finish their exercise doing 3 times of Dan Bae Gong.
Nevertheless, it is also sometimes practiced 108 times or over 1,000 times for practice because this is a kind of accumulating the outside energy into the body.

Dueling
Beginners of Kichun start their lessons by learning the 6 Basic Forms with Dan Bae Gong. As their level grows, they learn more of advanced forms.

Becoming an intermediate level takes approximately 3 years or more in which not not many people succeed.

At some time in the intermediate period, you start learning and practicing basic techniques of dueling.

The higher your level goes, the more time you have to practice because you learn more duelings as an advanced member. Your practice time will be more than 3 hours in a row for one practice.
Besides, being an advanced learner, you must do the 6 Basic Forms more than 1 hour prior to your main exercises for advanced forms and duelings.

Advanced members regularily gather some special place to practice together on weekends.
The picture uploaded herein shows a scene of dueling technique exercise under the instruction of Teacher Joun Chan-wook (in brown uniform - image source: http://home.freechal.com/kichun).

Kichun Gum (Sword Art of Kichun) and Martial Art Dance

As it was mentioned in the Introduction page, the sword art of Kichun is the base of Haedong Gumdo.
Haedong Gumdo is a kind of modernized and developed version of the sword art of Kichun Gum because Haedong Gumdo has accepted some modifications and creations of new forms and styles while Kichun Gum has been keeping its original techniques without any modifications.
Because of that, people could say that practicing the sword art of Kichun would be in some part much more difficult and boring than learning Haedong Gumdo.

Martial Art Dance of Kichun is also described in the Introduction page.
The actions and movements of Kichunmoon art are more like a slow traditional Korean dance. Kichun has a sort of 3-time rhythm - the same rhythm as traditional Korean dance - in most of its actions which makes it be looked like a dance.
Actually, many traditional dance team members and even modern dance team members have learned Kichun to get some idea for their new dance style creation and to practice their mind and body as well.
